Bob Halligan Jr.
Southern Alberta audiences will be treated to some wonderful songwriting, October 19-31, compliments of Bob Halligan Jr.

The Syracuse/Nashville based Halligan is founder and leader of the emerging popular Christian, celtic rock band, Ceili Rain. No stranger to the music scene, Halligan is a veteran songwriter with a very impressive list of credits on his resume. Over 100 songs recorded by major artists and 30 million units sold is testament to his writing chops.

Cher, Michael Bolton, KISS, Judas Priest, Jennifer Rush, Helix, Rik Emmett, The Guess Who, Kathy Mattea and Joan Jett have all recorded Halligan originals.

It all started in 1982 when Judas Priest recorded "Chains" on their hit album Screaming for Vengeance. "That got me elected as the heavy metal song doctor" offers Halligan, an affable humble man who has not allowed music industry success to alienate him from the common folk.

The transition from heavy metal to Christian music has been a spiritual journey for Halligan. As his faith grew and became more defined, his songwriting maintained an artistic integrity but the subject matter was new. "The philosophy with Ceili Rain is reaching a very diverse audience cross section.

"We are not interested in spoon feeding, preaching or proselytizing. Our new songs are written from a Christian perspective, but not as we say 15 JPM- Jesus' per minute."

All Ceili Rain albums (five to date) have garnered very impressive reviews from Billboard magazine. The band continues to work diligently at carving out their niche in a very crowded and competitive industry but are winning converts with each live performance and increasing airplay on US Radio.
