How can we be sure that contributions to DEVELOPMENT AND PEACE will be used
effectively?
From Development & Peace Website - pdf file
DEVELOPMENT AND PEACE has been working in Asia for more then 30 years. Because of this, DEVELOPMENT AND PEACE can count on the support of an active network of partner groups, their staff and resources, in each of the countries that fell victim to this terrible disaster. In addition, our membership in Caritas Internationalis ensures that our efforts will be coordinated with contributions from other countries and from the Catholic Church’s social welfare network throughout Asia. For its part, DEVELOPMENT AND PEACE has a team of competent and dedicated Program Officers with many years of experience in emergency relief and long-term development.
Each of these resources helps to ensure
(i) that contributions for Southeast Asian relief
will be used intelligently and effectively, and
(ii) that DEVELOPMENT AND PEACE's efforts
will be well coordinated with those of other organizations operating in the regions
affected.
By way of example, DEVELOPMENT AND PEACE's emergency relief program following Hurricane Mitch, which struck Central America in November 1998, won the Canadian Council for International Cooperation’s (CCIC) International Development Award for 2003. The CCIC is the principal coordinating body for Canadian voluntary organizations committed to international development.
