Barbara Thorson (lyric soprano) has been performing in Calgary for many years. She has been a member of the Calgary Opera Chorus since 1988 and is founder of ISING4U, a company which has produced A Little Bit of Broadway and S’Wonderful, S’Marvelous – A Tribute to Gershwin for the Winter Festival, and An Evening with John McDermott for the Olde Town Hall in Aylmer, Ontario. Barbara was seen in Storybook Theatre’s Joseph and the Amazing Technicolour Dreamcoat and enjoyed playing the Witch in Folksopera’s production of Hansel and Gretel. She also participated in the summer program at the Banff Springs Hotel both as a performer and a music director for the hotel’s show in the grand ball room.

Recent concerts include On Eagle’s Wings, with all proceeds going to Calgary’s Agape Hospice, and An Evening with Intunation held at the Olde Town Hall in Aylmer, Ontario.

One of Barbara’s recent projects included performing in Calgary Opera’s world premiere of Filumena, at the Jubilee in Calgary, Alberta February 2003. In the Spring of 2003 she performed in a concert by Intunation – Jorge Aviles, Jason Erhardt, Darol Fonteyne and Lorna McColman, and Barbara Thorson -- singing Gershwin, Cole Porter and Irving Berlin.

Her CD entitled The Gift—songs of faith was released in November of 1999.
